You’ve seen the headlines: celebrity moms “snapping back” after their baby is born via surrogacy. But behind the glamor and gossip is a different story—one that often includes years of struggle, heartbreak, and hope.

Let’s talk about who actually turns to surrogacy and what the journey demands.

MYTH 10: “Surrogacy is only for rich celebrities.”

It’s true that surrogacy can be expensive. But the idea that it’s only an option for the ultra-wealthy? Not quite.

Most intended parents are everyday people—teachers, nurses, same-sex couples, cancer survivors, people with infertility or genetic conditions. Some save for years. Others take out loans, receive grants, or are gifted support from family and friends.

Surrogacy isn’t about fame. It’s about family. And for many, it’s the only path left to biological parenthood.

MYTH 11: “Only young, perfect women can be surrogates.”

Perfection isn't part of the criteria—and youth isn’t everything. In fact, many of our most amazing surrogates are in their 30s or early 40s, with multiple children of their own and a strong sense of stability and purpose.

What really matters is:

  • Healthy pregnancies in the past

  • Emotional readiness

  • Physical wellness

  • A strong support system

Surrogates come from all backgrounds, shapes, and walks of life. What they share is heart, commitment, and a desire to help.

MYTH 12: “Surrogacy is an easy way to make money.”

This one couldn’t be more wrong. Surrogacy is incredibly rewarding—but it’s also a major physical, emotional, and time-intensive commitment.

From screening, medical procedures, daily hormone injections, travel, embryo transfer, pregnancy symptoms, delivery, and postpartum recovery—it’s a full-on journey. And it’s not for the faint of heart.

Compensation helps make it possible for women to dedicate themselves fully to the process—but it’s far from “easy money.” It’s a labor of love.

The Real Truth?

Surrogacy isn’t reserved for celebrities, and it’s not a shortcut. It’s a path for real people on both sides who are committed to creating something extraordinary together.
